Due to some recent health issues, Billy Larson,
decided to step down from his position as MMA’s
At the July Board of Directors meeting of the MMA or Arizona, I was voted in as the new Designated Lobbyist. It has been a pleasure working with Billy Larson at the state Capital for the last few years. I look forward to still working with him in the future as his health improves as he is now registered as an independent Lobbyist.
Who am I?
Well let me give you a little bit of my background. I am Skypilot, a 32 year member of the
Limey Rider MC. I was here when the ACMC was formed. I was asked by Steve “Muskrat” Musgrave, who was at that time ACMC Lobbyist, to help him out at the Capital. When he stepped aside, I became the ACMC Lobbyist.
The first item I worked on was the parking issue in the City of Tempe which allowed only 1 motorcycle per parking spot and we were able to have that changed. Then on to the Arizona Motorcycle Emissions Bill (run 6 times). Ran bill on the sunset of AMSAC ($1 fund), Right of Way Bill, which we had some of the strongest laws in the area.
I also was part of the team that worked on the Handle Bar Height Bill and the Lane Splitting Bill (which made it to the Governor’s desk and was vetoed).
I helped to kill the Helmet Bill with help from the Speaker of the House,
David Gowan, who has been working with us on some motorcycle
